The Zombies Are Coming Back!

I know we still have a few months to go, but talk of the next season of The Walking Dead has got me all excited! AMC has posted 2 new photos on their website from season 2. The make-up is kind of incredible! Season 2 will air on Halloween of this year and there will be 13 episodes. I’m so excited! Last season there were only about 7 episodes so now we can watch zombies longer!

The Zombie Nazi's

I finally have a moment. This week has been kind of weird. I don't really even know what day it is... I've kind of been living under a rock these last few days with being sick and then having a 2 day convention at work that I was barely awake for. So I'm not really sure what's going on in the world right now. I need to catch up. Also, my head is super congested so I apologize if what I'm about to write makes very little sense.

I did have some movie time while I was sick and let me tell you it got kind of weird. One of my co-workers told me about this one zombie movie and he told me it's a must see. Turns out he never even saw it, but out of sheer curiosity I watched it on Netflix instant. It's called Dead Snow and it's about these Nazi's turned zombies. It's a Norwegian movie so make sure you're up for reading subtitles AND guts. It's not your typical zombie movie because these zombies can run and jump and have strength, which are all no no's of the zombie world.

A bunch of kids decide to go to this one cabin for their break from medical school and while they're there, they meet this guy who tells them the woods are dangerous because it used to be a Nazi camp are and the town didn't like having the Nazi's there so they killed them, but some escaped. He told them the escaped were never found so they're still out there somewhere. Naturally, the Nazi's turned into zombies and throughout the movie kill all the kids. There's a lot of intestines in this movie. It's like the special effects team just learned how to make fake intestines and wanted to show off their skill.

If you're in the mood for a ridiculous zombie movie, you should watch this one. It's definitely a good movie when you're bored or home sick. I chased it with Ramona and Beezus.

Fail/Nonfail Blog Friday

The Walking Dead finale has aired and I want to know what happens next!!!! I want to read the comic books and kind of ruin it for myself. I was reading up on my zombies and The Walking Dead and found out the second season won’t air until October 2011!!! They’re joking right? You can’t do that. You can’t leave an intrigued audience hanging at the end of the finale and then keep them hanging for another year. I call that cruel and unusual punishment. Not only that, but it seems like bad publicity for the show. Will people even remember the show next October? This show makes me want to rent every zombie movie ever and once that’s done, my obsession might cease. Come on AMC. You can’t do this!!! If you haven’t watched any of the episodes, you have to. My mom thinks it’s dumb, but she’s never been a zombie fan. Maybe it’s a generational thing. I want zombies!!! RAWR.

Zombies!

Is anyone watching The Walking Dead? There have only been 2 episodes, but I'm pretty intrigued already. It's pretty much a drawn out zombie movie and I'm ok with that. If you've missed it, the first episode is on Hulu and the second episode you kind of have to find on your own. For some reason Hulu will only show the first episode. It's on AMC so you should start recording it or watching it live.

Like any other zombie movie or TV show, the entire world has been taken over by zombies and those who happened to survive are trying to stay safe and not get eaten by the zombies. So far, nothing unusual has happened, but because the show will be in one hour segments, it keeps you coming back for more because so little happens in each episode. You still don't even know how everyone became infected. There are some things that don't follow the zombie way such as the zombies having the ability to jog and they have upper body strength, which is something they shouldn't have. One zombie was able to hop a fence while another was able to break a window with a rock. So I call bullshit on that, but I guess it would make things a little boring if the writers didn't break some rules.

So if you're a zombie movie fan, this show is for you. It's not scary like I thought it might be. Like I can watch it at night and not have nightmares. Some of you might be different though. Just know that I'm a major chicken shit and I've been ok.

Weekend Movie - Resident Evil: Afterlife

Another weekend means another form of entertainment to keep my small mind occupied. My roommates and I decided to see the movie Resident Evil:Afterlife, which is the 4th installment of a series. I've heard of the movies, but never saw any of them or ever knew anything about them so before the movie, they made me watch the third Resident Evil so I would know what was going on. It's about a virus that has escaped and turned the entire world into zombies. Alice, the main character was injected with the virus, but instead of becoming a zombie, she became super human and the movie is about her trials and tribulations of trying to escape testing. The third movie was very entertaining. I like a good zombie movie and this one kept me entertained. So I had a feeling I would like the 4th one. Not so much. It was so incredibly cheesy it was hard to take anything seriously. First of all, Alice is cloned and she finds out about her clones in the third movie and decides to use her clones to create an army to destroy the company who created the virus. The CG and split screens to show more than one Alice is terrible! You know they spent so much money on that movie. Why would you slack off on the CG?!?!

The rest of the movie was far fetched and I couldn't help but laugh at a lot of scenes. I know I know. It's a zombie movie, it's already far fetched, but this was even worse. Anything can happen, so when I see virus outbreak, I don't think it's too far fetched, but when someone tries to land a plane on a tiny roof top, it's far fetched. When you know to shoot a zombie in the head to kill it, don't shoot it in the chest. Common sense people. Anyway, the movie was number one at the box office this weekend so it does have a following and the ending was left hanging so there will be a fifth movie.

The movie was made in 3D, but we found a theatre that was showing it in 2D, so we got lucky. I don't know that I could have handled all the zombies jumping out at me in 3D. The one thing that was pretty awesome about the movie were the action sequences. Girls kicking ass is pretty hot, but other than that this movie stays off my favorites list.

RAWR!!!

Who knew zombie movies could be so funny? The Brits, that’s who. I watched Shaun of the Dead last night and it was quite hilarious. Yeah, the zombies were still pretty scary looking and still did zombie things, but you could have a little laugh in between eating’s. The premise is pretty much like any other zombie movie where the town’s people suddenly turn to zombies and the main characters are fighting for their life and suddenly the military comes and rescues them. Obviously, Shaun of the Dead is a play on Dawn of the Dead. So freaking funny. Shaun is a normal guy whose girlfriend has just broken up with him because he’s kind of a low life and then suddenly he becomes super man when fighting off these zombies and his girlfriend takes him back all while his best friend is held in their shed on a chain because he turned into a zombie. Freaking funny.

I recommend this movie. It’s funny enough to watch at night with all the lights turned off.

Weekend Movie - 28 Days Later

Given that Halloween was on Saturday night, I figured I would watch a scary-ish movie to get into the full swing of the holiday. I decided to watch 28 Days Later. I was told that it was really good and who doesn’t want to watch a good movie. Um yeah, it was freaking awesome. Those of you who do not like the bloody stuff, this is not a movie for you. There is a lot of blood oozing out of all body parts.

The premise of the story is that London is being taken over by the “rages,” which was started because monkeys were given a strain of it for experimentation. The animal rights freaks let them out of the cages in turn infecting the humans. “Rages” are spread via blood, which just oozes out of the infected. They can bite you, get blood in a cut, your mouth, or eyes and it’s over. Bleh. Bloody!

Apparently, there is all this controversy as to why this movie isn’t a zombie movie. Zombies are slow moving creatures who feed on brains and they can lose limbs and not feel pain and killing them is a bit difficult. With the “ragers,” they are full functioning humans and can be killed by guns and the like. They move really fast too. I think that was the scariest part for me. Anyone can outrun a zombie. The “ragers” freaking run fast. Scary! This is definitely one of those movies that needs to be watched during the day with a Disney movie to follow. I recommend it. There is a sequel I am looking forward to called 28 Weeks Later. I will let you all know how that one goes.

P.S. After seeing the movie, the movie poster is terrifying! Looking at someone's face lets you know if they are infected or not.

Zombie Time!!!

Sigh. Two more days until that wonderful holiday we all love graces us. My costume is ready, the pumpkins are set, and the candy is waiting to be opened. What a glorious night it will be. I thought it would be good to get us all in the mood with a little Halloween song by the most talented comedic singer ever, Stephen Lynch. This is a man who uses his talents well. I even listened to an audio story I got in my Wend'y kids meal entitled "Zombie's Don't Play Soccer" on the way to work this morning to get myself in the mood. Enjoy! Happy Halloween!!!

RAWR

We all love zombies right? I mean who doesn’t love the walking dead. Drooling and all. The new movie Zombieland is coming out next month and it looks kind of awesome I’m not going to lie. It looks kind of like a spoof and therefore I am all in. The real zombie movies kind of scare me. They make me scared of dark places because I think that suddenly a zombie is going to jump out and eat me or drool on me and make me one of them. After I saw the Saw movies, I was even more terrified of the dark than I already am. I kept thinking someone in a pig mask was going to jump out at me and put a needle in my arm and I was going to wake up with my eyes sewn shut and I had to try to find a key to release me or something. Yes, I frequently have nightmares.

Anyway, moving on. I think I really need to see Zombieland.

The kid from Adventureland is it in and that movie sucked so maybe he can redeem himself with what is probably going to be the best zombie movie of all time. Okay okay. This is dripping with sarcasm, but come on, if nothing else, this movie is going to be good for a laugh. You have to love the tag line on the poster: This place is so dead.

I went on the movie website and there is a quiz entitled “Is Your Loved One a Zombie?” Hahahaha. I tried to take it, but I couldn’t even get passed the first question. There is even an iPhone application of some sort. Maybe it helps ward off the zombies. Shine the screen in their eyes and they leave you alone. Sigh. I love October.
