I love legos. I mean who doesn't. They're perfect for kids and adults. Kids can do whatever they want with them and as they get older they can start to follow directions to make cool looking things and then as adults we can follow even harder directions and make even cooler looking houses by Frank Lloyd Wright and other iconic buildings. Legos are definitely for all ages and genders for that matter. They're not specifically meant for girls or boys, but for both. Well, the Lego company might be taking a bad turn by creating a line of legos specifically for girls.

These specific legos are called Lego Friends. Kind of gross if you ask me. I understand that they might be trying to reach a bigger audience, but I think this is going a little too far. The characters they have on the box look more like dolls than lego people. Why Lego company, why?!?! Of course, parents are outraged. I would be too. I want my daughters to play with normal toys. This doesn't look normal to me.

Zoom-Zoom

As I’ve said many many times before, I love Pixar. I wish I could work there, but their offices are up north. Their next movie is Cars 2 scheduled to come out during the summer and I’m very excited. Not only that, but Disney California Adventure is supposed to have a Cars Land and that is even more exciting. Almost everyday, Pixar announces a new car that will appear in Cars 2. The first one is British secret agent Finn McMissile voiced by Michael Caine, which is super awesome!

The second new character is John Lassetire named after John Lasseter who will also be the voice. I kind of like the name play.

There are 2 new Italian cars named Uncle and Aunt Topolino who live near Porto Corsa in the small village of Santa Ruotina. They are aunt and uncle to Luigi from the first movie. Uncle owns the village tire shop and Aunt is a master cook with the best fuel in the village. I love the play on names here too because Topolino is the Italian name for Mickey Mouse. Sigh. Pixar, you’re awesome.

Mattel plans to release 150 “Cars 2” toys this fall. That’s a lot! I feel like I’m 12 again! If that didn’t make you excited, check out the movie trailer!

Devil Toys

I was never a big fan of Barbie. My uncle used to buy them for me and I had one of the jeeps, but for the most part they sat in a duffle bag in the back of my closet and I played with my brother’s toys. I thought Barbie was boring. She didn’t do anything whereas my brother’s toys made noises and could shoot things. I still think boys have better toys. This is kind of old news, but I haven’t heard about it until just now because of all the holiday madness. Mattel came out with a Barbie that shoots up to 30 minutes of video called Girl Doll. You can shoot whatever you want and then you can upload the video to your computer. So these little girls are taping their tea parties? I don’t understand.

The camera is on Barbie’s chest and the screen is located on her back. I understand that shooting video is the new big thing, but what the hell does an 8 year old need a video camera for? It baffles me. Mattel was always that company that seemed to stay true to cool kids toys, but I don’t really like them right now.

The thing that makes me giggle a little is the fact that the FBI is all worried because someone could get a hold of these videos and use them as child porn. I mean I guess it makes sense, but I’m sure these 8 year olds aren’t uploading their tea parties to YouTube after school. Oy vey. I don’t even know what to say anymore.
