Is anyone watching Drop Dead Diva? If not, you should be. It's a pretty good show. At first, I only saw a few episodes in the middle of season one and I found the main character to be annoying, but I started watching from the beginning and she's awesome. It's a lawyer show, but not your typical lawyer show. Yes, there are cases that they win in court and all that fun stuff, but there's so much more to it. Jane, the main character, used to be a model named Deb. She got hit by a car and died, but before she was sent to heaven, she took over Jane's body gaining all of Jane's abilities and knowledge. The main plot point is that Deb was very serious with one of the lawyers Jane works with and she can't tell him that it's her in Jane's body. Kind of cute. It's definitely a chick TV show, hence the reason it's on Lifetime. What I love even more about the show is that the actress who plays Jane, Brooke Elliott, is a Broadway actress so her dreams are usually musical numbers. It's just a fun show. The first season is on Netflix instance if you have a weekend to watch. No tissues necessary, I promise.

Weekend Show - Mary Poppins

So for my birthday weekend I was taken to see Mary Poppins at the Ahmanson. I was so excited to see the show. It was supposed to be a surprise, but I ruined it, but I was still excited. I knew the show had tap dancing and the Disney movie is one of the best classics.

When they had the 40th anniversary for the movie, they had this premiere party thing going on at the El Capitan in Hollywood and I got to go to the premiere. Julie Andrews was there and so was Dick Van Dyke and a bunch of other celebrities. I even got to go to the after party and eat along side these celebs. The gift bag was amazing. We got the anniversary DVD and some other little chotskies. It was very exciting. When I heard about the show on Broadway, I was very excited for it to go on tour. I heard it was a lot darker than the movie, but I hoped that it still followed the movie pretty closely.

I have to say that my expectations weren’t fulfilled. The play was a bit darker than the movie, but the story was much different. The actors who played Mary Poppins and Bert were very good and there was tap dancing, but I wasn’t awed by it. It was just kind of so so. My one thing was that Bert tap danced on the top of the proscenium and I couldn’t see it where I was sitting. Made me a little sad. I guess you have to sacrifice a few seats to make dancing on the proscenium happen. Mary Poppins flew all over the place and even flew into the mezzanine, which was pretty cool.

There was even a new dance to be learned by me for the song "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." I even know how to spell it now thanks to this show!

The show was aesthetically pleasing for sure. The set pieces were amazing and very cleverly done and the lighting and costumes were amazing as well. I guess the story is what made the show a bomb to me. I’m not going to lie, I was a little bored at parts. Makes me want to go back and watch the movie again so I can flush my mind a little.

Weekend Movie - Up in the Air

This past weekend proved to be insane, but I was able to find time after the very late Saturday night event to see a movie, at the Americana no less. We saw Up in the Air, which I was pretty excited to see. I heard it was really good and my girl Anna Kendrick was in it. The movie was actually very good. I liked it a lot. It’s ones of those depressing feel good movies where everything in the movie falls apart and it makes you as an audience member want to go out and live your life more and even change the way you think about certain things. It makes you realize that everyone needs someone whether they think they do or not. You can’t just be a hermit all your life. Like I said, it was a depressing movie, but it made me happy to want to change. You know how those movies go.

George Clooney was the main guy learning all these wonderful lessons. Every girl in the entire world thinks George Clooney is hot and I may get killed for saying this, but I think he’s kind of funny looking. There were a lot of close ups on his face and he looks like he’s wearing eye liner and his eye brows are funky. He’s just funny looking. Anna Kendrick was cute in the movie. My mom thought she was super annoying, but I think she will find her footing somewhere. I still don’t understand why Broadway actors go from the stage to the movies. A lot of actors would prefer the opposite, but Anna is one of many stage actresses who seek the silver screen. Starting out in Twilight was pretty much suicide, but she may be able to redeem herself.

Anyway, the movie has been out for a bit so I recommend going soon.

Legally Blonde

I decided to start this blog in an effort to show the eye rollers out there that even though it looks ridiculous, does not necessarily make it so. I admit to knowing all the words to every High School Musical song and actively watching every episode of The Hills. Some of you may even be rolling your eyes right now, but trust me, they are worth watching. That takes me to my next topic, Legally Blonde the Musical.



I became obsessed with this show after watching the reality show on MTV where girls had to compete to be the next Elle Woods on Broadway. It’s always interesting to watch the challenges they face as well as their talent or lack there of. The touring show finally came to my town and hell yeah I was getting tickets. I dragged two friends along for the joy ride.

I actually enjoyed the show. I was worried it was going to be cheesy, but it was dance heavy and there were a lot of toe tapping songs. I didn’t realize the show was going to be so dance heavy. The show received a great review in the paper too, so I’m not the only out there willing to wear pink and dance around.


The set was very cool. The proscenium was a frame of lights that moved with every scene so the actors were always in the center of the frame. It was cool to watch. Of course the frame changed color to match each scene. I never thought I would say this, but at one point there was waaaay too much pink happening. It was almost blinding. The frame turned pink, the backdrop was pink, the costumes were pink. It was just an explosion.


The worst part was when a dog would enter the stage. Every girl in the audience lost their shit. There were two dogs in the show, Bruiser of course and then another dog of some sort. And every single time they entered the stage all the women everywhere peed. It was cute the first time, but after the fifth entrance, it got kind of old.

So for the dog lovers out there and those who wouldn’t mind too much pink, I recommend this show.
