Not Just Another Manic Monday

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! I would be silly not to talk about the recent events in America so I will try to be brief, but I feel it's important. First of all, I want to say job well done to Obama. For so long people have said that they're done waiting for him to do what he said he would do. But all along in my head, I kept saying that we just need to wait it out. We all voted for him for a reason and there was no doubt in my mind that something would happen. He just happens to be very sly about it. There was no way he was going to leave office without doing anything. I think he's too good of a speaker and thinker and leader to just leave with nothing. Second of all, I want to say that he is awesome at playing the game. Here's why: He, after a long time of discussion, release his long form birth certificate and at first I was like "what the fuck, that was so unnecessary, screw Donald Trump and what he thinks," but now I see the bigger picture and Obama played the game so well. He released his birth certificate, which of course says he's a citizen and then he freaking kills Bin Laden. It was like a freaking one two punch right to the Republican/Donald Trump/Birther kisser. He can totally now say "screw you" to all of them. The second reason I think he plays the game well is because yesterday right before our people went in and killed Bin Laden, Obama was playing golf. He was telling these troops to go in and kill this dude all while playing golf. The reason he played golf was because if he didn't stay on his normal schedule, people would start to think something was happening. He's very good at keeping people at ease. So again, well done Obama.

Of course, I don't think this will end terrorism altogether, but I do think it will weaken Al Qaeda significantly. Yes, there is a successor who they say is smart and uses the internet and social networking to gain followers, but I also hear that not many people like him. That he lacks the leadership abilities that Bin Laden had. But even if Al Qaeda disbands, I think something new will come. There will always be some group targeting us. So my thought is that we should pull out of Afghanistan ASAP. I know that probably won't happen, but it's just a thought from a small citizen.

I know a lot of people are saying that they feel semi safe now that Bin Laden is dead, but I have to say that I don't. I fear for that counter attack. Maybe it won't come for a while and maybe it won't be on American soil, but I know there will be one and that scares me. Obama always had my vote and I will continue to vote for him. I know he will do a good job with whatever America faces. The death of the terrorist leader has nothing to do with my faith in Obama. It helps of course, but I kind of always knew this guy had something up his sleeve. I know there will be many more things to come. Maybe I'm naive when I say any of this, but those are my thoughts for now.

Glee Can Make Gay Marriage Legal

Sigh. To be a Glee cast member. We know we have a little bit of a chance with the open casting call to be announced soon for 3 new cast members, but I’m talking about the cast of Glee going to the White House on April 5 as personally invited by Obama for the Easter Egg Roll. That’s right, even the President watches Glee. He wants them to sing at his Easter party. I want to be part of this cast more than ever now. Not many people can say they sang at the White House because they were personally invited by the President. This show just keeps getting better. Maybe they can slip in a note about legalizing gay marriage? Just a thought.

No More

I know, I know. I have missed People of Wal-Mart Wednesday a few weeks in a row now, but there is so much more important information out there that needs to be discussed. The people of Wal-Mart will always be weird.

So last night, President Obama addressed the issue of what we are going to do to get out of Afghanistan. He said that the US is going to send 30,000 more troops in with the intention of eventually pulling out. The idea is to train the soldiers in Afghanistan so the US can pull out. At least there is the intention to eventually pull out…..?

I have issues with this. It’s great that Obama is trying to get us out of there, don’t get me wrong, but at what expense? We are sending 30,000 more troops over before this effort can take place. That bothers me. A lot. This means more American deaths. This means we could potentially have another Iraq on our hands. This doesn’t look good in my eyes. Last I heard, we tried to train the Afghan soldiers and they would run away when faced with danger. So much good that training did.

On one of the ridiculous MTV reality shows, there was a guy who was called to active duty while on the show so MTV took it upon themselves to make a special and follow this guy to duty. Granted he was called to Iraq, but they showed how hard it was on him and his family. Sending your kid off to fight in another country would be the hardest thing any parent would ever have to do. Thinking that you could potentially never see them again.

What I’m trying to say is that I don’t think it’s necessary to send additional troops. Why do more people need to fight? What does Obama hope to accomplish with sending more troops? He wants to keep the Afghan government from being overthrown by the Taliban, but what is the US supposed to do about that? Kill every member of the Taliban? Is that even possible?

Thoughts? Anyone?

* Steps Up On Soap Box *

Yet, another state loses the race. I just don’t understand. Voters in Maine decided this week that they do not want to legalize gay marriage. I am truly shocked simply because all of the states in New England are allowing gay marriage except for this one. All of the religious right wing assholes are coming out in full force now. I was watching Margaret Cho’s new show the other night and she made a very good point. She said that no right wing religious freak has any gay friends so they would never have to see it or get invited to the wedding so what the hell is the problem? Why do straight people think that gay people will affect them in any way? It’s not like gay people walk around with signs or display their sexuality. There is no different between a straight person and a gay person. We all have the same parts and the same minds and morals and some may even have the same wacky religious beliefs. So why the hell does it affect you? Guess what, it doesn’t. Me wanting to marry a woman does not affect any straight person in any way, shape, or form. It infuriates me that anyone would think that it does.

I also watched an episode of Grey’s Anatomy for the first time and it happened to be about a daughter whose father did not accept her because she was dating a woman. He sat her down with a priest to “pray the gay away” and her father started receipting bible verses at her and she recited some back that showed that being gay isn’t a sin. Come on religious freaks. Open your stupid little minds. If marrying someone of the same sex makes you happy, than be happy! Don’t let anyone stop you. Come on Obama. Stick up for the people who voted for you because you promised change.
