Good Friday

I read BBC.com and LATimes.com every day to try and keep up with the insanity happening in the world. Yesterday, one of the headlines on BBC read “US man beats record with 25,000th Big Mac” and of course I needed to click on that article to find out what the hell it meant. A retired prison guard, Mr Gorske has eaten 25,000 Big Macs! McDonald’s even had a ceremony for him in his home town of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He said he would eat Big Macs until he dies. This is insane. I mean I used to eat Big Macs every once in a while because I had a craving for a burger, but I always regretted it. No one needs that much hamburger. This guy was even in the documentary Super Size Me, which I really liked. If you haven’t seen it you should. It doesn’t make McDonald’s food look gross so no worries there it just shows the effect it can have on the body. Well, this guy is thin and his cholesterol is said to be low. I have a very hard time believing that! Anyway, Mr Gorske says he eats a Big Mac in 16 bites and keeps track of his consumption on calendars. Every week he buys six on Monday and eight on Thursday and keeps them in his fridge or freezer until he is ready to eat them. He said his wife told him the end will come when she has to put them in a blender. Seriously sick. This guy is insane. Obviously, his doctors don’t like what he’s doing, but I’m sure that won’t stop him anytime soon. Please don’t eat McDonald’s this weekend. I feel sick thinking about it.

Royal Pizza

This royal wedding nonsense has gotten way out of hand. There are tours to see Kate’s childhood home, but the tour guides aren’t even allowed to point out which home was actually hers. I heard they don’t even know which one belonged to her and her family. There are specials on TV allll the time. I mean, leave these people alone. My company is even broadcasting the wedding live online. Again, too far. Yesterday morning, things went a little further. Papa John’s Pizza has a pizza dedicated to the wedding. Yup. The pizza shows William and Kate’s faces made out of olives and ham and all of the above. I mean, it’s well done, but come on! Is this really necessary?

Do You Want A Toy With That?

McDonald's has been in the news a lot lately and it's all ridiculous. I heard that McDonald's will no longer put toys in Happy Meals unless the parents order apple slices and milk. If a kid wants soda and fries, they can forget about receiving a toy. Ok, I understand that McDonald's has been under a lot of scrutiny for having unhealthy food, but parents are going to feed their kids whatever they want. Eating apple slices and drinking milk doesn't make the chicken nuggets or hamburger healthy. Chicken nuggets and burgers are the worst part of the meal. I order kids meals all the time and the last thing I want are apple slices and freaking milk. Milk makes me sick sometimes. So screw you McDonald's. I want my freaking toy. I will more than likely throw it away, but what the hell are you trying to do to the fat kids of America? We should be allowed to play with toys too. In all seriousness, if parents are going to feed their kids crap, that's their own problem. And those parents who try to sue McDonald's for making their kids fat are retarded. It makes me horribly sad to see so many fat kids, but McDonald's isn't going to change the world by taking away toys. I have the fondest childhood memories of awesome McDonald's toys. Back when they were giving real toys and not the pieces of crap they give now. Some are even worth money now. My favorite were these plastic chicken nuggets that you could dress up in different outfits. Mine were always in Halloween costumes.

The second thing I read/saw about the Happy Meal is from this one chick who decided to let the Happy Meal sit for 6 months and take pictures of the progress of the meal. I went through the slide show of pictures and the meal didn't change at all. It still looked like it was recently ordered. There was no mold or anything. The chick said the meal was hard as a rock, but that was the only change. Well, duh. What did you expect? I don't expect to see a McDonald's meal decompose like any other food. That's what makes it taste so good.

Bottom line, if you have a problem with McDonald's food, than don't freaking eat it. Those who eat it, know it's bad for them and do it anyway. I'm sorry, but it's the truth. I watched Super Size Me and I know what McDonald's food can do to my body, but I will still eat it once in a while. It tastes good sometimes. And that's the operative word: sometimes. Don't eat it everyday! If you do, you will get fat. Silly people.

All these stories make me want to eat McDonald's. Good job with all the PR. Also, Google image search McDonald's. You get some awesome pictures.

Hollywood Fun

Oy vey. There are 2 new celebrity mishaps I would like to touch upon today although one can’t be controlled like the other one.

First we have Lindsay Lohan. What is her problem?!?! There were drugs found in her system last week and she’s still on probation so that means a warrant was out for her arrest. The judge was super harsh on her, which he should have been and decided that she was going to be in put jail for one month without bail. A bunch of other judges heard this and over ruled this and Lindsay was let out on bail. Not only is she getting special treatment, but this girl has some major issues. I thought everyone said rehab helped her. I think she needs to be put under house arrest or something. If she can’t even stay away from drugs for a month, something else needs to be done other than rehab or jail. I’m so sad for her! She has a horrible family who does nothing to help her and the paparazzi won’t leave her the hell alone. I would take drugs too.

Second, we have Gordon Ramsay. He’s probably one of my favorite celebrity chefs. I don’t know why, but for some reason I can’t get enough of him and his wild and crazy shows. Recently, the media is saying that he’s linked to 2 suicides. One was a chick who was on Hell’s Kitchen a while ago who didn’t win and the other was a guy who was on Kitchen Nightmares. His body was found at the bottom of the Hudson River the other day. Of course, the media says it’s Gordon’s fault, but I disagree. I remember the guy from Kitchen Nightmares and he was having major money issues. So whether Gordon put this guy on his show or not, this guy was bound to do harm to himself all on his own. As for the chick from Hell’s Kitchen, I don’t know what happened there. Yes, Gordon Ramsay gets mean on that show, but if she took everything he said to heart and committed suicide because of him and the show, than she had other issues. I can imagine it sucks to be linked to people committing suicide just because they were on your reality show. It’s not like Gordon forces them to be there. They sign up or call him and ask to be on the show. Gordon’s job is just to tell them the truth about their future. He’s there to help. Maybe I’m just biased.

Anyway, it’s just another day in Hollywood.

Fail Blog Friday

Chicken McNuggets are good, but not this good. This chick drove through McDonald's at 6:30 in the morning asking for McNuggets, but only breakfast was being served. She didn't like the answer and went a little crazy.

Again, why would anyone go through this much stress over a fast food item? Happy holiday weekend y'all. See you back here on Tuesday.

Food Trucks Galore

I almost forgot to post a blog this morning. I've been so wrapped up in the fact that you can pre-order the new iPhone. I have been staring at the screen for about an hour now. I set it all up and the last step I have to do is pay for the damn thing. Is it awesome, totally. Should I save the money for something that I actually need, probably. Sigh.

Anyway, on to today's blog. Last night, my friends and I decided to embark on a new adventure: eating from famous food trucks. The Grilled Cheese Truck was even involved. When I wrote the blog a bit ago about the Grilled Cheese Truck, I never thought I would actually get the chance to visit it or even see it in person. Well, let me tell you, it was there and awesome and everyone else thought so too. The line was very long. Apparently, I wasn't the only one coming to the food truck event wanting grilled cheese from an orange truck. The event was at the Americana in Glendale and it was called Street Feast. According to something I read yesterday, this event happens quite often. Food trucks come together in one spot and just feed the masses. My friends and I ended up waiting in line for the PattyWagon for about 30 minutes or so and it was very worth it. We got mini burgers with very crispy fries and Spanish Coca Cola. All for only $9. The truck also had signs all over it showing that the food was healthy and didn't contain chemicals. The cows were all fed with fresh grass before they were slaughtered and made into juicy burgers for my consumption and they used farmers to supply them with lettuce and tomatoes. See? All fresh. We wanted to visit the Coolhaus Truck, which serves amazing ice cream sandwiches, but that line was even longer than the grilled cheese line. So we decided to pass and just eat burgers.

There were a bunch of other food trucks I wanted to visit, but didn't get a chance. There was the Buttermilk Truck, which as you can imagine serves pancakes and french toast. It smelled soooo good. The Flying Pig was another truck, but the food looked really scary. Pork snout and the like. Bleh. All of these trucks had really long lines except for the Comfort Truck, which surprised me a little. It served all comfort food and no one was biting (all pun intended). I guess no one in Glendale likes fried chicken. Overall, it was a very fun event and I would go back again. Even if it means waiting in line for an hour.

Cheese Me!

My mom heard on the radio the other day that a grilled cheese truck exists somewhere in the world. Who doesn’t love grilled cheese? Just now, I looked it up and they have an entire website dedicated to this truck. They have a calendar of the week showing where their truck is going to be. They even cater. I know what one of my friends is having at her next party. Their menu looks pretty awesome and now I’m starving.

Plain and Simple Melt (on french or wheat bread)American Cheese......$3
Sharp Cheddar......$4.25
Double Cream Brie......$5.50
Gruyere......$4.50

Cheesy Mac and Rib macaroni and cheese with sharp cheddar......$5.50
with bbq pork, caramelized onions......$7.50

Brie Melt (on cranberry walnut bread)
Double Cream Brie, Sliced Pears and Honey......$6.75
add Smoked Turkey......$7.75

Harvest Melt
Roasted Butternut Squash with sauteed leeks, balsamic and agave syups......$5

Dessert Melt
Roasted banana puree, Nutella and marshmallow......$6

The prices are really good and I would totally eat all of this stuff. I would need to buy an entire box of lactose pills, but otherwise, I want to eat it all. They even announced the other day that they are going to be at the Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational on April 24 at the LA Center Studios. I know right! A festival dedicated to grilled cheese. My grandma would love it. I am soooo there. Who’s with me?
