Book of Jobs

I’m not going to lie, I’m a little excited by this. Steve Jobs has authorized a biography to be written about him. It will be called iSteve: The Book of Jobs. I might be excited because he was one of the founders of Pixar and there will probably be some really good stuff in there about the first days of Pixar. Otherwise, I might skip the rest unless it’s super interesting. Biographer, Walter Isaacson will be writing the biography, which is kind of awesome because he’s written about Einstein and Ben Franklin and many others so he knows what he’s doing. I’m sure the book will focus on Apple more than anything else, but I will definitely read those chapters about his days at Pixar. It’s scheduled to come out next year. I hope this doesn’t mean he has been given a short time to live…. That makes me sad to think about.

Read Me Revisited

I wanted to revisit the Mac blog because yesterday was the official Mac conference where new Mac technology was introduced. When I read an article, the device was called the iSlate and it was supposed to be an e-reader that would basically replace the Kindle and Nook. Well, that was a little bit of a lie. The product is called the iPad and is basically a computer without a keyboard/enlarged iPhone. I was following the live feed from the conference yesterday and honestly all this device is, is a much larger version of the iPhone and a much smaller version of the Mac book. I wouldn’t buy it at all. I have a Mac book and I have an iPhone. Why buy something that is 2 things rolled in to one when I already have those 2 things? Now, if my Mac book broke or something, I may consider buying the iPad, but I like keyboards so maybe not. Also, I know the trick with Mac is to wait until the second generation comes out because it will have more options and possess better technology than the first. The iPad does still have the e-reader technology as I discussed in my previous blog where publishers are getting paid more etc., but the problem I have is that the iPad is back lit. The wonderful thing about the Kindle and/or Nook is that there is no backlighting therefore it’s much better for your eyes than any computer. I would have a very hard time reading from a backlit tablet.

I also have a really hard time with the name. iPad is the worst name ever. What was wrong with iSlate? I only hope that they realize their mistake in making this a feminine napkin product and change the name for the final release in March. Let’s see what Mad TV has to say about this.

Read Me

Since this blog is supposed to be about guilty pleasures, I would like to touch upon one of mine: Apple. No not the fruit, the company. I was always terrified to use a Mac because the one in school was so weird and confusing, but I got one when I was in college and I don’t think I could ever go back. I use a PC for work, but that’s against my will. I enjoy all the features the Mac has to offer, such as the designing programs and editing programs. I also enjoy the other products from Mac such as the iPhone, which is the best invention ever, as well as the iPod. How many people do you know without an iPod? Probably not many.

To add to this amazing list of Apple products, it is said that tomorrow, Apple will be launching a touch screen tablet called the iSlate. If anyone knows where the “i” thing came from, please inform me because I still do not understand. Anyway, this thing seems pretty freaking sick. The iSlate is basically the competition for the Kindle and other e-reading devices. The cost is said to be more than the iPhone, but less than the Mac book. So in other words, way more expensive than the Kindle. I guess the big thing with this is that the iSlate will pay publishers more for their books causing more books to be made for the iSlate in turn gaining a monopoly on the e-reader. I am pretty ok with that. I mean it’s a sad day for Amazon and Barnes and Noble, but it’s Mac. Soon they will rule the world.

There are no real pictures of the device yet, but there are some pictures of what the product is assumed to look like. It won’t be sold in stores until March. Start saving up!
