Puppet Marriage

Oh Bert and Ernie. Who doesn’t love these 2 guys? Everyone thinks they’re gay, but no one has ever gone as far to ask that they be shown as truly gay...until now. The public has asked that the 2 wed on Sesame Street. There was even a petition going around to show support for their marriage and it received 7,000 signatures thus far. I think it would be cool to have these 2 puppets marry on TV, but at the same time is a 3 year old learning their ABC’s going to know what that means? I understand how everyone wants to get little kids to understand tolerance at an early age, but usually kids 5 and under watch Sesame Street so I almost feel like it would be wasted. I don’t know. I mean will Bert and Ernie getting married really change little Johnny’s view on life?

Of course, PBS said no to this and told the public that these 2 characters were created to show kids what friendship means. I think I might have to side with PBS on this one. Does that make me a bad person?

Manic Monday

Good morning! Is everyone hating Monday's? I know I am! So let's get started shall we. So you know those old spice commercials with the guy going through various scenes:

Did you know that he never moves? All the scenes behind him move and he's just strung up and placed strategically. Kind of cool huh? Well, I wanted to share the Sesame Street spoof of this commercial. I think it could be better, but it can still put a smile on your face on this crappy Monday.

Hot and Cold

Many of you have probably already heard about the ridiculousness surrounding Katy Perry’s appearance on Sesame Street, or lack there of I should say. Katy Perry was supposed to sing Hot and Cold with Elmo on Sesame Street, but the piece was pulled from the show after preview audiences deemed it unfit for children. I was listening to KROQ and they thought the preview audience and producers were ridiculous for pulling the clip. The reason behind the pull was because Katy decided to wear a tiny nothing dress and parents didn’t think it was appropriate for children to see her boobs falling out. I think I have to agree with these parents. First of all, why did the Sesame Street producers let her wear that skimpy dress in the first place? They had to have known her dress wouldn’t go over very well, right? Second of all, KROQ was saying that all kids see boobs when being breast fed. Um, these kids don’t know that they’re sucking on a boob. I mean come on! I wouldn’t want my 4 year old to think that they can dress like Katy Perry when they grow up.

To top it all off, Katy Perry went on SNL to make fun of herself:

I wish Katy Perry would just be semi normal. Her music isn’t abnormal and she gets attention just because she’s cute. Why does she feel the need to dress skanky?
