Gaga No More

Remember how I was super excited because Lady Gaga got Target to change it's ways and stop donating to anti-gay organizations and start donating to gay organizations? Well, something happened and now the deal is no more. They haven't released details as to why this fell through, but it makes me very sad. I know that Target wanted to partner with Gaga for her new single Born This Way and she would only do if they changed so does this mean she's no longer partnering with them? I hope that's the case. I honestly feel that some of these companies shouldn't take sides at all. If they want any business at all, they shouldn't take sides. Or they should just take the good side of things. Just saying. Either way, I hope whatever caused this deal to fall through is a really good excuse. I like me some Target.

Major Win Blog Friday

Lady Gaga, you are now my hero! Remember not too long ago how all these articles were surfacing which named a bunch of businesses that supported anti-gay organizations and we all vowed never to go to those places again? Well, we can now cross Target off that list. I sigh with relief because I love me some Target. Lady Gaga has convinced Target to start supporting gay organizations and steer clear of the anti-gay organizations. That’s amazing! She met with them face to face and convinced them to change their ways:

“That discussion was one of the most intense conversations I’ve ever had in a business meeting,” Lady Gaga said. “Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they’ve made in the past … our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they’ve made supporting those [antigay] groups.”

After their talk, Target has vowed to donate $500,000 to the LGBT community. Makes me wonder why they started giving money to anti-gay organizations in the first place. Either way, thank you Lady Gaga. And of course Elton John says her new song “Born This Way” is the new gay anthem.

Fail Blog Friday

So Lady Gaga has a new song out today. I find a lot of her music catchy and this one is definitely catchy as well, but she freaking stole it from Madonna. It sounds exactly like "Express Yourself." It disappoints me because Lady Gaga always seems to do her own thing. Maybe she lost her mojo. Take a listen. Happy Friday y'all.

Rama Ramama

Talk about obsession. The University of South Carolina has developed a sociology course dedicated to Lady Gaga. Would you take this class? Maybe out of sheer curiosity, but otherwise…? The professor, Mathieu Deflem, is a fan of Gaga’s and has been to 30 of her shows. That’s kind of insane. He said the class will focus on Gaga as a social event rather than her singing and life. He wants to focus on why she has 10 million Facebook followers and 6 million Twitter followers. The course description says it aims to “unravel some of the sociologically relevant dimensions of the fame of Lady Gaga with respect to her music, videos, fashion, and other artistic endeavors.” If that’s the case, it seems odd to me to focus on Lady Gaga only. The class should focus on celebrities in general and why people are so interested in their every move and how and why they came to be. I took a bunch of sociology classes in college and there was never focus on one single person. The focus was on a race and how they went about their life differently than others. How do you gage society if you only focus on one single person? It seems weird that the college would allow a sociology class like this. The class has a blog and I’m kind of interested in following what the hell goes on. The course starts in spring. I wonder how Lady Gaga feels about this.

Slutty Cyrus

Talk about trying to get kicked off of the Disney channel. Miley Cyrus has obviously been trying to break out of her role as Hannah Montana for some time and she’s not the only one who has done outrageous things to do so.

Jessica Biel for instance wanted out of 7th Heaven so badly that she basically posed nude in a magazine and then was promptly fired from the show.

So, dressing like a slut and doing bad things is obviously common. Miley Cyrus has been dressing incredibly slutty during her concerts as well as dancing on polls and making out with chicks during her performance at the Teen Choice Awards earlier this year.

Honestly, I’m fine with dressing a little crazy to get some attention, but because she’s a star on the Disney channel, I’m not fine with it.

Dressing in crazy outfits made Britney Spears and Lady Gaga famous, but they don’t have any images to uphold other than their own. Miley has the Hannah Montana image to uphold. As a parent, I would be upset if my child’s favorite Disney character dressed like a slut off screen.

I would think that Miley’s parents wouldn’t like this either. Bill Ray seems to be a wholesome person and he just lets his daughter prance around in her underwear? Seems odd to me. And to top it off, this isn’t the first time pictures of her in her underwear have emerged. The first time she took pictures of herself and someone leaked them to the internet and now she’s doing it all on her own volition. Do you think I'm being over protective?

Nonfail Blog Friday

I came across this yesterday randomly. It’s kind of scary how good he is. He also sounds almost exactly like her. Happy weekend all!

Gaga Gives

Yes, it’s Wednesday, but I think this Wal-Mart day needs to be interrupted for something more important, such as giving. Since we are in the season of giving and all that hand holding stuff I feel it only appropriate. I read yesterday that in exchange for free concert tickets, Lady Gaga would like to see fans volunteering time at a homeless shelter. That is so awesome. Fans will need to prove that they have volunteered 8 hours of their time and then they will receive a free ticket to her concert. Seriously, way to bring people out for a good cause. You get to perform a good deed and then get rewarded with a concert from your favorite artist. I think more artists should do this. According to the article I read, other artists who have done something similar to this have brought out more than 30,000 volunteers. It gets the kids out there helping the less fortunate.

I guess if you want to look at both sides of this you can argue that these kids should be able to get out there and volunteer without knowing there is some prize waiting for them, but since a lot of people don’t volunteer, this is a good endeavor in my opinion. If it gets people out there helping the less fortunate, then who cares what they get at the end. My view is that they will go out there and volunteer just for some big prize, but while volunteering they will see the light and realize they will want to do this more often. At least that is the hope. Either way, I love Lady Gaga even more for this. Yeah she can be kind of weird, but she freaking sings live and makes people volunteer. Both of those are rare.

Ppppoker Face

I have suddenly gained a new appreciation for Lady Gaga. I was a fan of her music, but I knew that she was always kind of weird. Her lyrics were kind of weird too. Like that song where she sings about taking a ride on someone’s pogo stick. Wow. Plus her costumes. She has some pretty crazy outfits and after seeing her performance at the VMA’s, she has definitely kept my vote as being weird, but the one thing I did notice was the biggest thing ever. She sings live!!! No one sings live anymore and to add to that, she’s freaking good. She dances, sings, and plays piano. She is super talented.

She was even on Ellen and she sang live and played the piano at the same time. Granted she stood on the piano bench and did weird stuff while she did it, but that’s just her style I guess.

Style and weirdness aside, she has talent. I wish people would show it more. Like Katy Perry for example. That girl can sing and play guitar, but none of her songs portray her talent.

The one thing Lady Gaga is not allowed to do is talk though. She sounds like she is 12 years old. She has this baby voice, but she has a powerful singing voice and this crazy style. To be honest, I almost anticipated her having an accent because not many Americans are willing to think outside the box like she does. But nope, she is all American with a tiny little voice. Check it out for yourself.
