No! Why?!?! Hope Solo, super hot soccer goalie from the Women's World Cup is going to be on Dancing with the Stars. Isn't that a show actors go to when they're kind of washed up and need some money or recognition for something dumb? Hope Solo gets good attention and she's not washed up by any means so what made her want to do this? Sure she's a fan of the show and whatever, but that's a bad excuse. Plus, this means I might actually have to start watching the show or something. Boo! I'm begging you Hope to stick to the field. You actually made me like America.

Weekend Movie - Horrible Bosses
A lot of stuff happened this weekend. There was "Carmageddon," which was so ridiculous and if I hear one more thing about it I'm going to scream.

And there was the final World Cup Game, which was so intense I don't think I took a breathe for 130 minutes. USA lost to Japan in shoot outs. I could have cried, but I guess Japan has gone through a lot as a nation and deserved the win. I will still wear my USA soccer jacket proudly even though their defense could have been better.
Anyway, amongst all of that, I was still able to make it to the movie theatre to see Horrible Bosses. I don't think I ever would have seen it if it weren't for co-workers telling me how funny it was. And they were right. It was definitely funny. I was laughing throughout pretty steadily. Three friends have these horrible bosses, each for a different reason and one night at the barthey joke about killing their bosses. It later turns into a real plan and they actively try to go out and kill their bosses. In the end, everything works out and they all become happy with their work environments. God I wish it was that easy. I guess a girl can dream. If you have a horrible boss you dream of killing, you have to see this movie. Even if you don't have a horrible boss, this movie is funny and worth seeing. Jason Bateman always makes me laugh. Friday, April 15, 2011

World Cup Monday
Are you sick of the World Cup yet? Well, too bad because it's just getting started and it's still very exciting. This morning I was watching the Japan vs. Cameroon game and by the time I left for work, it was half time so I tuned into ESPN 710 radio because they cover the games. Well, for some reason they weren't covering it this morning and I was not very happy. To make it even worse, the news caster giving the news completely bashed soccer. He started off by saying he loves the sport and finds it fascinating and then went on to completely bash it. He was talking about how he hates when players try to tell him how complicated and intricate the sport is. He said that it wasn't intricate at all. Ball and net. Nothing intricate about that. Of course, by this point I'm yelling at the radio. Yeah soccer doesn't have fancy plays like football does, but it still requires a great level of skill and knowledge. Not anyone can run out on a soccer field and play perfectly. It takes years of practice, which he admitted to but he also went on to say how Americans are taught to use their hands and therefore the only position an American will be good at is goalie. He said that Americans play football and basketball and baseball because it requires hands. Americans don't plays soccer because we are never taught to do anything with our feet. He also went on to say how the American team sucks. First of all, the American team, before the World Cup even started was ranked number 15, yet they tied the England team who was ranked third. Tell me how that makes the American team suck. I will agree that the American team lacks a great level of skills these other countries possess, but you can't make a comment like that after they tied a very high ranked team.So that was part of his rant this morning. The other part was about the horns the fans blow during the game making it sound like a huge swarm of bees. He said that because all these fans can do is blow a horn, the sport isn't anything special. What are the fans supposed to do, sit quietly like basketball fans and football fans. It's the culture of the sport. I seriously could have reached through the radio and killed this guy this morning. How dare you work as an announcer on a sports station and then bash the biggest sport in the entire world. It's not the biggest sporting event in the world because it lacks intricacy. Come one now. I hate when people suddenly become experts when 5 seconds ago, they didn't even watch the sport. Pisses me off.

World Cup Part 2
I decided to change things up a little bit. There were some new themes in the theme section of blogger and I went for it. Anyway, back to the World Cup. Mexico and South Africa battled this morning and tied 1 to 1. I was hoping South Africa would win, but I'll take a tie. At 11:30 today, Uruguay and France battle it out. Yesterday the opening ceremonies were streaming live from the studio I work in and that was the most exciting thing ever. I got to sit in the control room and watch the entire ceremony on very pretty screens. I am completely immersed in this years World Cup and I love it. I have the proper iPhone apps to keep up with the games when I'm not near a TV and I'm content. I hope you all get to watch the England vs. US game tomorrow at 11:30. It should be a very good match. Happy soccer weekend all!!!

World Cup Part 1
The 2010 FIFA World Cup is finally here. I will more than likely be writing a lot about it in the next month so bare with me. It should be fun. My brother is working in the studio where I work as we speak working on the live streaming of the opening ceremonies, which occur today. The games begin tomorrow at 7:00am PST. I am soooo excited I can barely contain myself. Normally, I hate watching men play soccer. They get super dramatic and it's no longer about the game. They get really selfish and it's just not fun to watch, but the World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world and soccer is my sport so I watch and get excited. The game I am most looking forward to is on Saturday when the U.S. plays England. That should be an incredibly exciting game. I'm getting the Brazilian Blowout that day so I'm hoping I can catch some of the game here and there. If you're interested in catching the opening ceremonies, it will be streaming on VEVO, ABC, and ESPN at 11:30am PST today. The artists who will be performing are shown in the picture above.
