Super!

Do you ever wonder where your every day items come from? Like do you ever sit down and think about who came up with duct tape or glue? I don’t either, but the inventor of super glue, Harry Coover died at the age of 94 on Saturday. The thought that someone invented super glue never crossed my mind. I mean obviously someone came up with it, but I just thought it was the glue company making super strong glue or something. Of course, like most inventions, this one was an accident. Dr. Coover was working for Eastman Kodak when an assistant noticed that two refractor prisms were held firmly together by a substance. Dr. Cover realized the potential of this substance in 1951 and the chemical name for the glue was discovered years later: Cyanoacrylate. Try saying that 3 times fast. Obama awarded Coover the National Medal of Technology and Innovation in 2010 and Coover was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in Ohio in 2004. Who knew!
