Weekend Movie - The Last Song

So I was convinced this weekend to watch The Last Song. I was curious because I heard Miley Cyrus was awful, but I also knew the movie was sad and didn't really want to tempt it. Next thing I know, I'm watching the movie. Miley wasn't as bad as I thought she was going to be. With a couple more acting classes, I think she could have some potential. She definitely does the angsty teenager thing well.

The story is incredibly sad. Why Nicholas Sparks? Why?!?! Why do you have to write such sad stories? Why do you have to write stories consisting of lovers who can't be together and having their lives torn apart or stories where teenage girls are torn to shit because their parents are no longer together or people dying of cancer? Why? Did this stuff happen to you or do you just want to make all the women out there cry? I'm sure, in fact I know, the movie and/or book The Notebook is sitting in the majority of female homes waiting to be watched/read and each time a box of tissues is required. Why do you do this to us Nicholas?

So if you're looking for a sad love story that ends happily ever after, The Last Song might be for you. If you wish to laugh and not think about the sadness in the world, watch something else. Date Night maybe. That one always gets my gut a-rumbling.
