I didn’t get a chance to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid nor The Runaways, which made me sad, but I did get to hear how they did in the box office and I was a bit surprised. Diary of a Wimpy Kid came in second place behind Alice in Wonderland, which is good. The movie looks cute and there are never enough cute movies for kids. They tend to be dumb and torturous for parents. This is where the shock came in. The Runaways was nowhere to be found. It wasn’t in the top 10 at all. I at least expected it to be somewhere in there. I haven’t heard any reviews from critics so I’m not sure if people were avoiding it or not. Knowing that Kristen Stewart can be a little over dramatic in her acting may have been the reason, but Dakota Fanning is supposed to be really good. Maybe The Runaways just weren’t as popular as we thought? I don’t know. I will have to find out for myself next weekend I guess.

The one movie that I did get to see that I have wanted to see, but no one would see it, is Precious. I know why people were avoiding it. Normally, I avoid that stuff too, but I was just so gosh darn curious. Especially because one of the actresses won an award. I had to find out for myself. Luckily, the plane ride to Hawaii had the movie in it’s queue. It wasn’t very good. Depressing yes, but not good. My mom read the book and she said it was good, but I have to say that the movie was a little disappointing. It got the point across, but I feel cinematically it could have been better. I can’t really put my finger on the detail that could have made it better, but it definitely could have been better. The movie is about a girl named Precious who is sexually abused by her dad from birth. This caused the mother to hate her because she felt that her boyfriend was being stolen by her own daughter. How sick is that? So the mother does everything she can to make her daughter’s life hell. Precious ends up getting pregnant twice by her father and then contracts AIDS from him as well. Definitely a heart warming story. If you’re in the mood, go ahead and rent it. Maybe you can tell me what’s missing. Did anyone see any good movies?
