Free Pancake Tuesday

Today is probably one of the best days of the year. IHOP is giving away free pancakes with a suggested donation to Children's Miracle Network. IHOP raised more than $3.25 million since they first started the tradition in 2006 and they hope to raise $5 million in the 5 years since they began for the Children’s Miracle Network and other local charities. That’s a lot of pancakes. Short stacks will be given out at every IHOP from 7:00am to 10:00pm today. There’s even a little story as to how this all started:

While IHOP's National Pancake Day typically takes place on Shrove Tuesday, this year the company will host its free pancake event on Tuesday, February 23, extending the fundraising window by one week to maximize donations for Children's Miracle Network.

Known also as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, National Pancake Day dates back several centuries to when the English prepped for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products...hence the name Pancake Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday.

Very interesting. So what are you waiting for?!?! Eat some pancakes and give some money to the kids so IHOP can reach their goal of $5 million since 2006.
