Outsourcing

My brother and I used to watch The Simpsons all the time. It was our little tradition. Sometimes we would record them and watch them multiple times, but we both grew out of it. I can’t remember the last time I watched a full Simpsons episode. I find some of the episodes to be funny, but for the most part I’m kind of whatever about it.

I’m not sure how this happened and why it was allowed, but a UK graffiti artist by the name of Banksy created a controversial title sequence for the episode that aired in the states on Sunday. Basically, it shows that a lot of the animation for the show is outsourced to South Korea. This is interesting to me for many reasons. Number one, you would think the sequence would be pulled. No one wants anyone to know they use sweat shop workers to create their animation and merchandise. And number two, the producer laughed it all off and said “I guess that’s what we get for outsourcing.” Really? You’re ok with this? It’s usually something people want to cover up, not joke about.

I felt bad when I watched this because the sequence made me laugh. The artist uses some extremes that are kind of funny, but I guess he's trying to show how ridiculous South Korea can be in their factories. See for yourself.
