Weekend Movie – 2012

I am not one for end of the world movies. They scare the crap out of me. I have never once seen an end of the world movie and never had any desire to do so. Well this past weekend, the wind changed and I went to see 2012. This movie scares the crap out of me because of what people say about the Mayan calendar ending on December 21, 2012. So not only is this movie an end of the world movie, but it could potentially be true. I was told the Mayan calendar is a mathematical equation that never ends so we are good to go, but freaking eh. There was one point during the movie where I had to put my hood on because I was scared.

It was funny because the little girl in the movie wore hats because they made her feel protected. I can relate to a 7 year old character. Woot!

Anyway, the cast was pretty good. I mean who doesn’t love John Cusak. This movie was supposed to have been the highest grossing movie like ever until New Moon opened. Stupid vampires are taking over the world even though it’s ending! Even though I was terrified, I recommend this movie. It has a lot of action of course because the world just explodes, but it has some good stuff happening. As in all action movies, some events are just not possible and you have to tell yourself it’s just a movie, but it was good otherwise. At one point, the government is talking about “ships” and the audience is semi lead to believe they are space ships. I will ruin it and tell you they aren’t space ships, but big boats instead. Honestly, if they went all Sci-Fi on me, I would have walked out. No joke. So again, I recommend it. It’s worth the 11 bucks.
