I was recently introduced to the show The L Word. I have only seen one episode mostly because I didn’t have the channel the show was on, but also because it never really appealed to me. A show about dramatic lesbians? What’s so interesting about that? The lesbian community was happy the show was on the air because it represented them, but it actually represents them in a bad light. These women are evil, horrible people. I have only watched the pilot thus far and it was horrible. There are 2 married women and they are trying to find a sperm donor so they can have a baby. They find this one guy, but his sperm isn’t viable so they try looking around and everyone turns them down. I mean that’s a huge freaking thing. I would probably turn them down too. So they find this guy who thinks they are both so sexy so they take him back to their place to have a threesome with him so he can get them pregnant. They were planning on having sex with him and not telling him if/when they had a kid. The only reason he found out their plan was because he went to put on a condom and they told him not to so he stormed out. Good for him! That is not ok. Not only is that a horrible thing to do to someone, but I would not be able to watch my wife have sex with some man to get pregnant. Where is their conscience here?!?! It just made me want to puke. Apparently the show gets worse and the characters get worse. So yay for having lesbian shows, but freaking eh. Way to show lesbians in the worst light ever. Stereotypes exist for a reason, but why shine a light on them?

There is also news that The L Word is going to be made into a reality TV show. So now we are getting the opportunity to watch real lesbians do horrible things to each other? Count me out.
I will keep watching the show because I am semi interested to know what happens to these characters. I want to know how much better my life is because I don’t do horrible shit to people. I guess that’s what makes people watch….?
