There are quite a few cooking shows on TV right now. Some have crazy challenges and hosts and others have crazy cake making challenges. There is of course the food network with a million cooking shows and the movie about Julia Child just came out too. There is cooking everywhere right now. All of these shows and the movie were quite entertaining and they all make me hungry and some make me want to learn to cook. I kind of envy those who can throw ingredients together and make an amazing dish.
For me, there is one cooking show that stands out among the rest and that is Hell’s Kitchen with Chef Ramsay. I went to the Jay Leno show a few years ago and he was the guest and he was very overpowering. He has a very intense take on food and I think one day he is going to have a heart attack from being so intense.
On Hell’s Kitchen, there are 2 teams, the red team, which are the girls and the blue team, which are the boys and they all compete in a real kitchen setting. Their final prize is money and the position of head chef at some restaurant in New York. Chef Ramsey has each team cooking certain dishes for certain tables, just like in any restaurant, but he yells. Like really yells. He even kicks them out of the kitchen if they suck enough. His words are “Piss off.” It’s very intense. I am not a fan of yelling, but for some reason this show is addicting. I can’t wait for Friday to come so I can watch it on Hulu. I don’t know what it is, but I am completely drawn to it. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I enjoy working in intense situations, but I know that I cannot handle the yelling so I don’t know. Maybe I don’t mind watching others get yelled at.
Either way this show is entertaining. I recommend it. You don’t get to see how things are made as with other cooking shows, but you get to see the environment of a kitchen and that has always kind of fascinated me. Here is a good taste of what goes on in the kitchen.
I always wonder if he'd be just as effective at what he does if he stopped yelling quite so much. There have got to be other ways to keep people motivated and in line, right?

ReplyDeleteI agree. They get even more flustered when yelled at, but that is his method....
ReplyDeleteI want to be his friend! I bet he's really nice when he's not being paid to yell all the time.
