I would like to take this time to focus on bigger issues rather than guilty pleasures. Not that guilty pleasures aren’t big issues. There is a fire raging through the La Canada hills right now. As I drove along Foothill, I could see the flames. I have never seen a fire that close before. It is pretty terrifying. The smoke can be seen from miles away and ash is falling everywhere. Firemen and people who refuse to evacuate are getting injured and killed. I’m sorry, but if they tell you to evacuate, freaking do it. They aren’t telling you to leave because they are being mean. They are trying to save you. There was a group of people who decided not to listen to evacuations and were then trapped and asked for help. So the firemen had to risk their lives to save the lives of some dumb people. I say let them burn. Listen people! My uncle refused to leave when there was a fire near his house last year or so. People can be dumb. A house can be replaced. People can’t.

I read the article about the fire in the LA Times this morning and it said that there is no expected containment until the weather cools down. So this fire will burn until November?!?! They think that if there will be any containment, it won’t be until after Labor Day. My friend put it perfectly when she said that this is the worst fire in LA history, but soon it’s going to be the worst fire ever. I hope everyone stays safe and try not to go outside. The smoke is bad.
I wonder how much of our resources are wasted on people who put themselves in danger for something so silly as a house. Grab family, pets, pictures and important documents. Then just go. Like you said, the rest can be replaced, and it's not worth forcing firefighters to come save your butt when they told you to leave while you could.
ReplyDeleteDon't be selfish people. I understand wanting to save your home, but at what cost?
