Bite Me

Oh those vampires. They go in and out of style all the time. I remember being the kid obsessed with vampires. I used to watch the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer religiously. It was so ridiculous and then when the show came out, I was glued to the TV. Now vampires are trendy and it makes me sad. Vampires shouldn’t be trendy. Trends fade. Vampires don’t fade. Make them stop being so trendy! I hate that everyone and their mom now has a book out about vampires and their love lives and falling in love with mortals and blah blah. Then the writers say “so and so stole my work.” Um, if you write about vampires falling in love with mortals, all stories are going to be the same somewhere along the line. I do have to admit that I enjoy the fact that I have more vampire books to choose from now even if they are all about the same thing. There weren’t enough before and thanks to Twilight there are way too many. Makes searching Amazon fun.

I have read the first 2 Twilight books and have yet to get into the third. I think the second was so depressing and reading the third is just too hard. I have two more vampire books sitting on my shelf waiting to be read.

The first is called Sunshine by Robin McKinley, which is basically the retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but with vampires. I read the first chapter on her website and loved it so I had to get it.

The second book is a collection of 4 books from a vampire series written by a 14 year old girl. How crazy is that?!? The series is called Den of Shadows and there are 5 installments. The series is about a vampire who learns the secrets behind her becoming a vampire because she travels back in time. At least that’s what the first book is about. I assume the series follows that… I am very curious about this one. How many 14 year olds do you know with a book series?
